BERKELEY HEARTLAB
Calder Place is proud to offer a powerful diagnostic tool to assess your risk for cardiovascular disease. Patients with elevated cholesterol levels and with multiple risk factors for heart disease are encouraged to take the Berkeley Heartlab Test.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Coronary Heart Disease(CAD) is the most common form of heart disease. If plaque build-up, plaque rupture, or a clot blocks the coronary arteries, the heart muscle does not get enough oxygen and is unable to function correctly. Robbing the heart muscle of oxygen for even a brief period of time will result in the death of some of the heart muscle (a heart attack) which can lead to sudden death.
Traditionally, risk of developing CAD has been assessed with a standard lipid profile. However, only 50% of coronary artery disease is associated with high cholesterol. Routine cholesterol tests are failing to identify the vast majority of people at risk for heart attacks. Looking at good and bad cholesterol calculations simply is not enough.
Berkeley HeartLab helps us to create a comprehensive and personalized plan for each client, assessing a variety of risk markers as well as environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors that may contribute to heart disease progression. With this additional information, we are able to make more defined decisions regarding treatment options.
If you think you are at risk for heart disease, the time is NOW to ask if this lab is right for you.
Clients who test for this lab receive a customized, monitored, comprehensive health plan that gives access to a clinical coordinator and direct communication with the health providers at Calder Place (requires internet access). Clients will also receive complimentary appointments with a registered dietician.
When you get your results, you will receive a special access code that lets you see your results online and monitor them accordingly.

Many people mistake the symptoms of Type 2 diabetes for common problems, when in fact, what they are experiencing is related to the buildup of glucose (sugar) in the blood. These symptoms include: lack of energy, excessive hunger, frequent urination, weight loss, blurred vision, tingling or numbness to the hands and feet, numerous infections with slow healing, and sexual problems. There are numerous tests to determine whether or not you have diabetes... and there are different ways to manage it. If you are diabetic, you should work well with your healthcare provider in order for him/her to design a diabetes management plan that is right for you. Click here for more information on diabetes.

Consistenly higher than normal blood pressure, when left untreated, puts the patient at risk for heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure. While there are certain known factors that increase the risk for high blood pressure, no direct cause is found in most patients.
